Having your free movement denied by enclosed population centers, closed borders, regular curfews, roadblocks, checkpoints, electric fences, and separation walls. Having your homes regularly demolished and land systematically stolen to build settlements for encroachers in violation of international law prohibiting an occupier from settling its population on conquered land.

Israel is a serial human rights international law abuser. The UN Human Rights Commission affirms that it violates nearly all 149 articles of the Fourth Geneva Convention that governs the treatment of civilians in war and under occupation and is guilty of grievous war crimes.

ramikay,

Thanks for posting. I respect and admire the author, Stephen Lendman. I hope that the Israeli society is waking up. They are now speaking out about the ultra Orthodox, even though it has been a long time coming. At least it is a start! Perhaps they next they will launch mass protests against the settlements and the brutal treatment of the Palestinians.

Of course not. Israel has repeatedly called for talks, with the settlements up for discussion. The arabs could resolve the settlement issue once and for all very quickly by entering into talks. They would rather stall and throw up preconditions, rather than face up to peace and its consequences (recognising Israel). If the arabs are causing the blockage Israel may as well look after its own interests.

And "brutal treatment" of the arabs? WHAT brutal treatment? If the security measures which stop Israelis getting blown up in cafes, streets and buses are tough on the arabs then it is only the fault of the latter for pursuing violence and terrorism.

The negotiating table waits empty and it is the arabs making excuses to stay away.

Israel has no intention of halting Settlement building and chose Settlements over Peace talks in 2010..

Nice try Dennis but you can't rewrite history and expect others to agree with you

Israel has no intention of halting Settlement building

That is a nonsensical statement. Apart from that fact that it is at best unsubstantiated opinion, by definition the question of settlements would be resolved once and for all as part of a peace negotiation. Or is it your opinion that Israel would agree final borders and then carry on building in the new State of Palestine? Do you even think about what you are posting?

and chose Settlements over Peace talks in 2010

You mean the arabs wasted the window of opportunity created by Israel's settlement freeze and tried to bully Israel into changing the terms of the freeze? Agreeing to that would have set a precedent whereby the arabs could have secured freezing of the settlements indefinitely by repeatedly stalling on talks at the last minute, meanwhile not advancing peace at all. Nice try but no thanks. The settlement building is the price the arabs pay for refusing to talk peace.

That is a nonsensical statemen

Just because you don't like it or are unable to understand it doesn't make it nonsensical. It is fact, Israel has spent decades expanding their settlements, de facto Annexing the land, and will continue doing so.

You mean the arabs wasted the window of opportunity

There you go trying to rewrite history again. The time was spent by both sides to build up to FACE-TO-FACE talks. Trust in each other while not looking weak was VERY important to both sides. There were dozens of meeting between both parties at low levels, leading up to the higher levels, all being mediated by the quartet on a predetermined schedule. The Time was well spent on both sides and FACE-TO-FACE talks were achieved. Israel, however, refused to extend the Settlement Freeze at a critical point in negotiations. Every nation called Israel out on that, even the US!!!

Try to keep up on the FACTS Dennis or your posts will continue to look like foolish attempts to push an Israeli narrative full of lies and revision.

I like the picture of Israel's land grabs attached to this seed. It really demonstrates the reason why the PA demands a Settlement freeze before negotiations can resume. Negotiations without doing so in good faith will lead nowhere.

Imagine living under these conditions and knowing its what you choose to do, kind of makes you special huh. To end it, all it would take is to free yourself from a hate filled religion and join the modern world.

That would take them to be educated and understand what they need rather than being a receptacle for their hate-motivated religion. I doubt it will happen and for that reason palestinians may well be doomed to extinction as a hate people.

Is that not what the world has tried to tell the Jews for over 2 millenniums?

I don't think the Muslims are any-more likely to give up their religious faith or identity than the Jews where?

What right do you have to tell someone else what religious believes they can have?

Here is another hate filled religion that has fueled and dominated the occupation of Palestine

Hate-filled Israeli rabbis incite violence against non-Jews

Israel appears to be awash with Jewish hate preachers. In the past, rabbis who issued racist edicts or offensive remarks about Palestinians or non-Jews were generally dismissed as radicals and extremists who were no more than a trifling annoyance to be ignored in the hope that they would simply go away. However, it is now clear that ignoring this problem has only made it worse. In the current climate in Israel, extremist hate preaching has apparently become the norm and it is being embraced, not just on the extreme political right but also by a disturbing number of Israelis in general, be they preachers, politicians, settlers or simply ordinary citizens. Hate-filled Israelis have become emboldened over the years by the knowledge that they can say and do almost anything without fear, knowing that they will not be condemned or, if they are, that nothing will come of it. That is due to the widespread support for their views across Israeli society as well as their religious leaders and the political elite.

I'm sorry my mistake may be in calling it a religion. I wouldn't expect Muslims to give up their religion far to many are brain washed way beyond that point, just a suggestion. If people choose to follow a cult of evil and stupidity their free to do so ,but they must also expect to suffer the consequences. Best I can say to the Palistinians is they made their bed now sleep in it, and quit whining.

Is this a New Years miracle? Did you really say there are 2 sides to this conflict? That happens to be a line right out of my playbook. I'm beside myself, someone finally admitting there's more to this story then just the evil of Israel. Or did you misspeak? If the Jews behaved the way the Islamist do, you would be telling the truth and I would be agreeing with you.

What ALL Christian (& Jewish) Extremists Have in Common

We now know that a Christian extremist has taken credit for the terror attacks in Norway, including the systematic slaying of scores of youth at a summer camp. While it surely may be shocking, it shouldn't be surprising.

Over the past decade, the Christian Right and many Jewish neo-conservatives have pushed the propaganda theme that Islam is a uniquely violent monotheistic religion that requires special suppression if the West is to avoid having Shariah law imposed on everyone.

Of course, in making that argument, one has to wonder if these Christian/Jewish zealots have ever read The Hebrew Torah or studied the history of Christianity.

The obvious truth is that the Torah (or Old Testament) is filled with story after story of ancient Israelites striking down their enemies with ruthless force and without remorse. Christianity, at least since its merger with the Roman Empire early in the Fourth Century, has been the world's preeminent violent religion bathed in blood and steeped in hypocrisy.

It is certainly true that radical Muslims have misused the teachings of Islam to justify horrendous slaughter of innocents, with al-Qaeda's 9/11 attacks as standing as the most outrageous example. There also have been cases over the centuries of Islamic armies acting in barbaric ways.

But those atrocities have nothing over the genocides and the massacres committed by Christian armies and Christian zealots. Christian/Jewish-tinged violence has continued into the new millennium with anti-Islamic sentiments an underlying factor in George W. Bush's "war on terror," which included the occupation of Afghanistan and the unprovoked invasion of Iraq, always somehow justified by the glories of Jesus Christ or the teachings of the Torah.

ramikay's post was little short of an incitement to racial hatred, an attempt to mischaracterise Jews as violently genocidal on the basis of biblical texts that have zero relevance to the morals, culture and behaviour of Jews today.

Hope it's clearer now.

Jews as violently genocidal on the basis of biblical texts that have zero relevance to the morals, culture and behaviour of Jews today.

Hmm, The removal and ethnic cleansing of Canaanites to resettle the land for a "Jewish" kingdom; The removal and cleansing of Palestinians to resettle the land for a "Jewish" state. There are more similarities than you'd like to admit...

ramikay,

aspenblue, is presenting a part of the "Opposition",

The "Opposition" is Necessary to *HEAR*, and to understand, and to "Speak" to,
IF,
you desire a "Solution", that does NOT INCLUDE War.

IF, you, ramikay, DO desire War, then, *delete away*,

BUT, remember, a War, MAY INCLUDE a defeat for YOUR SIDE.

and, ramikay, may I have your permission to speak on an "approaching" Violence in an adjacent country ?!

Anyone who speaks against Israel or Jews is banned

Only if they breach the CoH. In any case it is hard to "speak against Jews" without exhibiting racism so that is fair enough. The same would apply to "speaking against Muslims".
