Human rights advocates are often under-sourced and over-stretched. But by pooling our resources, we sustain our work and build the coalition we need in order to channel our diverse efforts into a torrent of support for policies that uphold freedom, justice and equality.

Member groups of the US Campaign are running ad campaigns in their cities to highlight the moral and financial costs of the United States giving Israel $30 billion in weapons. You never know where you'll see an ad -- perhaps on a billboard, train, or bus near you.

Why Is Aid to Israel Set to Decrease?

With the "super committee's" failure reduce the budget deficit, the Israeli military is scheduled to lose $250 million each year. While we can't take credit for that, we can claim victory for helping create an environment where AIPAC is uncomfortable fighting the cut while U.S. communities' needs go grievously unmet.

We are excited to announce that plans for OCCUPY AIPAC are under way and we hope you will join us March 2-6 in Washington DC.

With the Occupy movement that has swept the country demanding social and economic justice, many have concluded that AIPAC—the powerful pro-Israeli government lobby that distorts U.S. policy in the Middle East— is a mandatory “occupy target”. Adbusters, the magazine that issued the initial visionary call for the takeover of Wall St. on September 17th, has declared: “The time has come for the Occupy Movement to demand an end to the Occupation of Palestine… We need a hashtag, #occupyAIPAC” (Kalle Lasn).

It would not suprise me if the United States declared this US Coalition a terrorist organization. They have all the makings of a radical group, and judging from their declared activities and goals, I could see a day when they take up arms against the government. I looked but still never saw a list of the 380 groups. Perhaps they exagerated a mite. Or darn 0 key. Keeps sticking.

As long as we are declaring the source of the problem - "terrorist", "radical", "extremist" are the people who and institutions which perpetuate the Palestinian occupation. The occupation is a crime against humanity and those who support it are complicit in those crimes.

Unfortunately preserving the the occupation has meant imposing increasingly draconian measures to suppress dissent against the occupation. Both the US and Israeli governments are instituting laws and employing tactics against petitioners who'd speak out against their crimes. So while it's entirely possible, maybe even likely, for the US government to declare protesters are "terrorists" or "radicals" it doesn't alter the righteousness of the cause. It may well bolster the will for justice though.

We support a U.S. policy that upholds freedom, justice and equality.

Yes but do you also support a Arab policy that upholds the same? This mess has dragged on for so long because the Palestianians can't get their butts in gear and make peace.

The US Campaign to End the Israeli Occupation works to end U.S. support for Israel's occupation of the Palestinian West Bank, Gaza and East Jerusalem.

    Better fact check yourself.

    1) Jerusalem was never part of the Partion in 48 and was only split after the Arab league over ran the city. From 1948 to 1967 the Arab control of what you call East Jerusalem was ruled ILLEGAL by both the world court and the UN. The Palestainin claim is based on the Jordan claim. Jordan give up its claim in the 80's.

    2) Gaza is 100% palestinaian and has been since 2005. Israel and Eygpt have a legal right to seal the borders to there own countrys. The sea blockade is legal under international law based on the degree of hostility shown by the rulers of gaza. Palestainians traveled freely in and out of both countrys until Palesianians gunman restarted the fighting with bombings , kidnapping and rockets attacks. Ending the fighting is and has always been solely in there hands.

    3) Occuipation as a results of war ( 1967 and 1973) is legal when the losing side is the aggresser until the point when peace is made by the losing side. ( 4th Geneva) The arabs have been required to make peace with Israel as condition of the aggrement that ended the wars. Once again it is on the arab heads to comply.

    4) Yes Isarel has over step the 4th Geneve seveal times but after 40 years of foot dragging by the arab side just what the heck should they do? Hand back everything and restart the whole mess over again because nothing has changed on the Arab side. They have show over and over again by thery actions they are no where close to ending the behaviuor that has kept this mess going for so long. Should Israel hand the holy sites back? The arab side has aready shown waht would happen by the past treatment and the present day Roits everytime Israel trys to do repairs or maintance to the roads of buildings in the old city. look up the Ramp leading to the top of the westen wall.

Jerusalem was never part of the Partion in 48 and was only split after the Arab league over ran the city.

UR WRONG Here is the right interpretation

Most countries of the world do not recognize Jerusalem as Israel's capital. Many do not recognize it as a city that is properly Israel's. Many UN member states formally adhere to the United Nations proposal that Jerusalem should have an international status.[3]

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Positions_on_Jerusalem

Israel and Eygpt have a legal right to seal the borders to there own countrys. The sea blockade is legal under international law

Again ur wrong- Here is what international opinion is

U.N. experts say Israel's blockade of Gaza illegal

    3) Occuipation as a results of war ( 1967 and 1973) is legal

UR WRONG again- Here is the international opinion again and again

UN Chief Annan Calls on Israel to End 'Illegal Occupation' - 2002

Ban calls for end to illegal Israeli occupation January 16, 2012 01:20 AM

Israel has for the last 60 plus years in violation of 4th Geneva convention to which it is a signatory.

    COLLECTIVE PUNISHMENT by Israel

Conference of High Contracting Parties to the Fourth Geneva Convention

In accordance with a number of resolutions adopted by the United Nations General Assembly and Security Council and by the International Conference of the Red Cross and Red Crescent, which reflect the view of the international community, the ICRC has always affirmed the de jure applicability of the Fourth Geneva Convention to the territories occupied since 1967 by the State of Israel, including East Jerusalem. This Convention, ratified by Israel in 1951, remains fully applicable and relevant in the current context of violence. As an Occupying Power, Israel is also bound by other customary rules relating to occupation, expressed in the Regulations annexed to the Hague Convention respecting the Laws and Customs of War on Land of 18 October 1907.

In general terms, the Fourth Geneva Convention protects the civilian population of occupied territories against abuses on the part of an Occupying Power, in particular by ensuring that it is not discriminated against, that it is protected agai nst all forms of violence, and that despite occupation and war it is allowed to live as normal a life as possible, in accordance with its own laws, culture and traditions. While humanitarian law confers certain rights on the Occupying Power, it also imposes limits on the scope of its powers. Being only a temporary administrator of occupied territory, the Occupying Power must not interfere with its original economic and social structures, organization, legal system or demography. It must ensure the protection, security and welfare of the population living under occupation. This also implies allowing the normal development of the territory, if the occupation lasts for a prolonged period of time.

    4. More precisely, the Fourth Geneva Convention sets out rules aimed at safeguarding the dignity and physical integrity of persons living under occupation, including detainees. It prohibits all forms of physical and mental ill-treatment and coercion, collective punishment, and reprisals against protected persons or property. It also prohibits the transfer of parts of the Occupying Power's civilian population into the occupied territory, forcible transfer or deportation of protected persons from the occupied territory, and destruction of real or personal property, except when such destruction is rendered absolutely necessary by military operations.

. In the course of its activities in the territories occupied by Israel, the ICRC has repeatedly noted breaches of various provisions of international humanitarian law, such as the transfer by Israel of parts of its population into the occupied territories, the destruction of houses, failure to respect medical activities, and detention of protected persons outside the occupied territories.

The ICRC has also drawn the attention of the Israeli authorities to the effects of prolonged curfews and the sealing-off of certain areas by the Israel Defense Forces. The resulting restrictions on movements have disastrous consequences for the entire Palestinian population. They hamper the activities of emergency medical services as well as access to health care, workplaces, schools and places of worship, and have a devastating effect on the economy. They also prevent, for month s on end, Palestinian families from visiting relatives detained in Israe

This mess has dragged on for so long because the Palestianians can't get their butts in gear and make peace.

The above is the only fact of import concerning the "occupation".

60 years and the Palestinians have agreed to nothing except cease fires.

People may not like the actions of Israel but the fact remains that the Palestinians refuse every offer. Israeli patience is at an end and the Israelis are playing a forced end-game strategy. The ball is in the Palestinians court and they run to the UN instead.

c/p ing large blocks of text is so fun, isn't it?

I think it would be so fun to join this coalition of 380 groups (I bet the Three Stooges are one of 'em!) except I have one teensy weensy problem...they would't know the truth if they stumbled on it accidentally in broad daylight.

Oh, and the US could stop supporting Israel. Israel would still kick everyone's hiney. But then what would happen to the US? "I will bless those who bless you and curse those who curse you." is till in effect (that's God talking). OH WAIT! You don't believe in God! So I guess that means that this "coalition of 380 groups" (doh!) are all atheists. Well, the way the US is going, all I can say is, better brush up on your Chinese. And get used to the idea of eating dogs and cats.

Sounds like 3.3, 3.4 comm enters are scrounging around for words to show negativity and disdain for those "380 groups" who are working hard to focus on efforts for peace and human rights of people. Can't help those who come in with a brain washed to only think and speak narrowly and have a hard time comprehending the simple facts. Sure get credit as usual for twisting clumsily words to express themselves

based on your criteria used to delete my comment below, you should delete your own comment.

I have said OVER AND OVER until I'm blue in the fingers (from typing) that MY greatest hope is for peace. There is an consistent campaign that still believes and desires the destruction of Israel. This keeps Israel on the defensive (sometimes a good offense is the best defense). There are those among the Palestinians who desire peace as well, but it does not serve ANY agenda to let their voice be heard. It's the conflict that sells the news, and the conflict that gives some people their validity.
If those "380 groups" are working hard for peace and human rights, let them start with working to stop the Palestinians from teaching hatred for Israel to 3 year old children! It's been proven over and over again that when a child is removed from that brainwashing, they DO NOT HATE ANYONE! But we can't have children growing up longing for peacefull co-existence.

The peace these groups want is a surrender of Israel to Palestinian efforts. Period. Never happen.

jgonad's response is all inconsequential mental masturbation of little import considering one side refuses everything.

The UN has never been and is not now the answer to the Israeli\Palestinian conflict. Simply because it initiated\mandated the formulation of Israel does not make it the final arbiter now.

It takes a willingness by both sides to compromise. Which side has continually refused everything for 60 years?

If necessary, I can post and link all accords offered via peace negotiation when wiki comes back online.

      End Israeli Occupation?

      1. Israel does not care what the United States says or does. Israel is now the 5th largest member of the global nuclear club, and that FACT is in the face of every U.S. Representative and Senator. North Korea, with four nuclear weapons, doesn't care what the U.S. says. What makes you think Israel, with 300 to 400 nuclear weapons, cares?

      2. The C.I.A, without Israel's Mossad to guide them through the personalities, plots, and plans of the Islamic Brotherhood, Islamic Jihad, Hamas, Fatah, Hizbollah, al Aqsa Martyr's Brigade, and all the Terror organizations bent on destruction of Western values, would be as blind in the Middle East as an ostrich with its head in the sand.

      3. B.D.S. is a joke. Every year, Israel adds $5 Billion to its global (non Islamic) exports, and those exports now total more than $60 Billion. The U.S. $3 Billion in Israeli aid is only 5% of that export figure, and it comes directly back to the U.S. in orders for manufactured goods and raw materials, as a job creator. Israel has now the 15th best economy in the developed world!

      4. The United Nations legally granted Israel its land, and the additional "Occupied Territory" Israel is settling belongs to no one, if not Israel. The Palestinians rejected the U.N.'s offer for a larger part of the land, so Israel is securing the land from which attacks against her began. Any country would do that.

      5. And finally, this world is ruled by "Mutually Assured Destruction," or fear. Israel was smart enough to develop their nuclear capability and join the club. The Palestinians were not. It may be a hard pill to swallow, but there it is. If anyone has designs on Israel, it won't be an organization with 400 members. It will require a massive, overpowering military force to dislodge Israel from her present (and future) holdings. Even if that were possible, the aggressor entities (Egypt, Iran, Lebanon, Syria, Gaza, and other participating Islamic countries would find their capitols, seaports, oil facilities, and cities in ashes.

The video I just watched reminded me of an elementary school presentation, ignorant of the realities and facts that surround the legal, Sovereign Jewish State of Israel. Ending Israeli Occupation is a joke and a waste of time. But it's their time to waste, I suppose.

I think you feel that way because your mindset is still at that immature level when it comes to this issue. The fact is that process to end is now getting into full diplomatic swing as each day passes by and Israel is down to begging with Netanyahu now getting fits from world criticism and questionings for his stupidities and in decisions until now. This is a big achievement for human rights supporters.

      Ramikay,

      Obviously, not so!

The economic success of Israel is undeniably growing. The bond of friendship between Israel and the United States is stronger than ever. And, for all the pins on the map your "End Israeli Occupation" group of 400 displayed, I have never seen nor heard of them in this country (and I live in a city that has two pins!). A website and video does not spell success. Any child can make a video, and their video is as childish as an episode of "Jackass."

Here is from Israel itself- The diplomatic isolation started to hurt

      Netanyahu weakens Israel

This diplomatic isolation undermines Israel’s security and its ability to defend itself. The attempt to avoid decisions creates a situation whereby the world decides for us, and not in our favor

Yet one thing is clear – today Israel is more isolated than ever. The bold, close friendship with the United States – a relationship that constitutes the pillar of Israel’s deterrent power – has become shrouded in dispute (even after Obama’s UN speech.). Meanwhile, the powerful Muslim anchors in the area, namely Turkey and Egypt, are switching sides against Israel.

      Ramikay,

Netanyahu is expressing his displeasure with President Obama's ill conceived dancing between Muslim and Israeli positions. Netanyahu is playing the U.S. Congress against President Obama to secure unconditional Presidential support for Israel.

Let President Obama face the reality of unilateral (unconsulted) Israeli military actions and absence of intelligence from the Mossad sink in, and you will see that the United States quickly reaffirms its commitments to Israel. In the big picture, the Palestinians mean nothing (as did the Native Americans in the last century). We are a pragmatic country, and we have no desire to eventually become part of an Islamic Caliphate, as the Muslim Brotherhood foresees. Netanyahu is dangling that prospect in front of President Obama, and President Obama will always side with Israel. When push comes to shove, Israel can shove harder.

Is there another country around the world that is so worried about its existence despite having nuclear weapons and 100's of billions of dollars of freebees and foreign aid for so many years ? The answer is simple :- the fruits of thefts of others land and resources in the form of occupation is like a sharp edged sword hanging on top of the heads of those who have nothing left but the never ending inner conscious feeling of that brazenly open guilt. I know you get it but you deny and ignore it every now and then till comes back again to haunt

God has said, of Israel, "I will bless those who bless you, and curse those who curse you." It's funny, if not pathetic, so see those who hate Israel acting very much like those who spit in the wind. It all keeps coming back on them. It's gotta be frustrating. I keep hoping that sooner or later, they'll flat get tired and throw their hands up, and just stop fighting.
