Sarkozy is right. Israel with the influence on US has done evrything to make it a failure so that they can put the blame on others.

He took particular aim at the Quartet — "We must stop hiding reality ... The Quartet is a failure," he said.

The Quartet is made up of the United States, United Nations, Russia and the European Union.

For years, the Quartet has been used by the United States to safely sideline its supposed partners while America sets the agenda and timetable for action.

One glaring example of this occurred in spring 2003. The Quartet had agreed to establish a "monitoring mechanism" to verify Israeli, as well as Palestinian, implementation of the "Roadmap to Peace", but the United States came under Israeli pressure and unilaterally discarded the mechanism when it published the official version of the Roadmap, without consulting the other Quartet members.

The time to dismantle the Quartet has long passed, since it has failed to balance and constrain US bias.

I agree. The US vetoed the world's condemnation of Settlements last year and none will forget that anytime soon. Now the US says they will Veto any Palestinian state that isn't approved by Israel...

Sarkozy is right! Everyone must first understand that the Muslin world completely rejects the presence of Jews (Israel) in the Middle East. Anwar Sadat was assassinated for making peace with Israel. But the United Nations has given a country to the Jews, Israel, and it is a legal, Sovereign Jewish State. Now, it has become the 15th best economy in the world. The Palestinians have rejected their offer, as they believe they are entitled to it all. The Quartet should begin from that perspective and from the perspective that Israel is now the 5th largest owner of nuclear weapons in the world.

wrong again

Despite all that what you think as great, Israel suffers from the security syndrome, isolation syndrome and instant poverty syndrome that can happen as soon as they see peoples opinion changing and the free bee aid could be cut-off any day the US and world economy go to dogs. This is living in uncertainty of borrowed time and resources from abroad, even depending on borrowed people from west , like no other country in the world.

These syndromes are because it is guilty conscious of its actions of theft of Palestinian lands and human rights violations. Sarkozy at this point knows that unless these basic issues of injustice and human rights violation are not addressed there will be no peace and threat of a bigger war in the region in which nuclear weapons will be used by those who are attacked by israel is a real possibility and could result in the closing of worlds oil resources killing the economies of west is imminent possibility. Maybe he can't do too much at this point but he is pointing at the core issues and problems that need to be addressed rather than rely on nuclear weapons and false feelings of security and prosperity like you do.

Ramikay,

All your suppositions are all hypotheticals. Right now, and for the foreseeable future, Israeli exports are growing at $5 Billion per year. BDS is a joke. Where are the results? They are certainly not showing up on the balance sheets. And even IF some world organization were to cancel Israel's ownership of the Holy Land, who would enforce it? Will the Arab world suffer the loss of Cairo, Damascus, Terhan, and every Muslim city to rid itself of those pesky Jews? Go to the kitchen and make yourself a reality sandwich. The Jews are not going anywhere; the Jews are not giving up any land; the Jews will take out the entire Middle East if they are faced with explusion from the Holy Land. This is not a role play or a game. It is real and in your face.

I think it is more likely that the evangelical Christians who are looking forward to doomsday scenario will eventually kick out the jews and commit the holocaust with nuclear weapons so that they can get some self made divine promised of the 2nd. coming of messiah be fulfilled. That is clearly the most likely scenario. Just saw hollenbergs column who is the one realises this fact and expresses it very clearly.

Even trade. Both sides gone forever, leaving the glowing Holy Land for the Christians and Atheists. Nice plan Kevin...

Hippocrates,

Not my plan, but a possible result of additional Muslim aggression against Israel. What do you think will happen when the Muslim Brotherhood gets control of Egypt's army and sends a column of tanks across Israel's border?

The beginning to a massive regional war leading to Israel's destruction, which under the Sampson Option would radiate people and poisoning water, crops and cattle throughout the Middle East.
